It is always exciting when you make a reservation for afternoon tea at a very elegant hotel. I have been fortunate enough to experience afternoon tea at numerous venues but every single one was unique, especially when it comes to the teas and cakes.
This time, I will be visiting one of the world’s leading hotels; The Westbury Dublin. The interior blends the atmosphere from the roaring twenties with a Georgian splendor, accompanied by Jazz music playing in the background.
Let’s sink back into a sumptuous armchair with a view over Grafton Street as you sample an enticing selection of sandwiches, scones, homemade pastries and divine patisserie. You can try fragrant teas from all over the globe served in pretty silver teapots. For a particularly indulgent experience, why not try a glass of Perrier-Jouët Rosé from their hugely popular Champagne trolley?
The scent of freshly baked scones has made me rather hungry. Thankfully, the three-tier stand has arrived, just in time. The waitress explained the assortment thoroughly, starting from the bottom tier that consists of sandwiches, all the way to the top tier of delicious-looking cakes, via the tasty scones.
Being in Ireland, this afternoon tea includes an Irish afternoon blend and, of course, a glass of bubbly.

After several hours of indulging in all this goodness and spending quality time with my closest friends in this beautiful atmosphere, it’s time to talk about this stunning hotel!
The Westbury Hotel is sure to charm. It’s magnificent Gallery, with its captivating privately-owned art collection and sumptuous Afternoon Tea is a Dublin institution. Modern, edgy and sophisticated, the hotel’s restaurants, bars, and meeting spaces present a unique Dublin business and social hub.
The Westbury hotel is home to two outstanding restaurants and a glamorous cocktail bar. Enjoy all-day dining at Parisian-brasserie-meets-New York-deli, Balfes; sip a glass of champagne at The Sidecar before sampling the cuisine at Wilde. It seems that The Westbury Hotel has it all in one place. Let’s call it a slice of the city!
